Cook your way around the country without ever leaving Hollywood at the "regional American cooking series" at Michael Wagner's witty contemporary American Lola's on Harrison.
The third in the six-part series features the cuisines of the Gulf Coast--Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi (Florida will get its own session later)--and takes place at the restaurant from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20. At the session, Wagner will demo a three-course meal in his home-made "kitchen stadium," made possible by a recent expansion into the business next door that comes complete with mobile mini-kitchen and big-screen TV to focus on the chef's hands at work.
The menu begins with shrimp and grits, then moves on to thyme-mustard catfish with black-eyed pea cakes and pecan butter, then finishes with chocolate truffle cake. Cost is $50 per person, and you get to eat the result. Recipes too.
