Wednesday, it will launch its food and wine series, the "PGA Wine Tour," featuring wine by golf legends such as Ernie Els, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Nick Faldo, and Luke Donald.
The resort's Wine Tour kicks off just weeks after the conclusion of its wildly successful "Wines of the World" tasting series.
"We were blown away by the response we received when we launched our 'Wines of the World' series," says event coordinator Darrell Wilde, vice president of food and beverage at PGA. "There's an obvious thirst in the community for this type of event, so planning another series was a no-brainer -- and tying it to golf... well, that seemed like a natural choice."
Starting January 19, the PGA Wine Tour is a four-week tasting event held at the resort's iBar
, with a final-round dinner to be held the fifth week at the Ironwood Grille. The event offers unlimited tastings of premium wines from golf greats like Greg Norman and Arnold Palmer.
The series culminates on February 16 with the fifth and final week featuring what Wilde is calling the "Final Round Dinner," where expertly paired dishes created by PGA executive chef Gordon Maybury will be served alongside the wines.
The weekly schedule for the PGA Wine Tour is as follows: January 19, Greg Norman; January 26, Ernie Els; February 2, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus; February 9, Nick Faldo and Luke Donald; February 16, Final Round Dinner.
Each tasting includes red and white wines for $20. The "Final Round Dinner" is $85 per person. Tastings are open to the public and include free valet parking. The series also serves as an exciting climax to the kickoff of the 2011 Honda Classic on February 28.
"We really wanted to do something that would engage the community, and bringing people in through good food and wine is a great way to do that," adds Wilde.
