They may not cure the common cold, but the new Indian menu items at Legal Sea Foods (various locations in Broward and Palm Beach counties) purportedly have "Ayurvedic" (health-promoting) properties. Calling the campaign "Spices of Life: Legal Sea Foods Exploring India's Cuisine and Ayurvedic Influences," Legal CEO Roger Berkowitz unveiled the dishes -- Madras pepper prawns, tuna Malabar style, Mysore tomato seafood chowder -- in the 26 restaurant locations in June. The principles of Ayurvedic eating look to maintain balance in the diner's body, spirit, and mind by combining certain spices and foods. So while you won't be able to alleviate the sniffles once you have them, you can be reassured that due to black pepper's antibacterial properties, the Madras prawns just might be a better investment -- not to mention a less painful one -- than a flu shot.
