American Craft Beer Week starts Monday and the Green Room in Fort Lauderdale will host an event tonight (Saturday, May 12) that could act as an appropriate warmup for the week of beer-centric activities ahead.

Tonight the multipurpose club will host a Magic Hat Art Battle showcasing works by eight local artists who have created pieces inspired by one of Magic Hat's summer-appropriate brews; #9, Elder Betty, Blind Faith, or Pistil.

Magic Hat is a sponsor of the event, which will include a chance for the public to vote on a winning piece. Crowd votes will be tallied via Facebook, with photos of each piece being posted at about 8 p.m. tonight. Each "like" for a photo will be equal to a vote for the piece, and organizers will use those results, combined with the scores from a celeb judge and a Magic Hat rep, to determine the top three winners of the event. Find the Green Room Facebook page here. The winners will be chosen at about 1 a.m.

The club also will host live music throughout the night. There's no cover charge, and doors open at 9 p.m. Magic Hat beers will be on special for $5.
