Cards for Veterans: Nature Crafts for Families

Kids who love to collage and make cards are invited to do so this weekend. How about a nice drawing of the American Flag and some cutesy prose to give to your veteran friends?

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday, November 9, 10 and 11, at Long Key Natural Area and Nature Center, in Davie.

Mayor Bober's third-annual Veteran's Day Barbecue

Hollywood Mayor Bober is known as a mean grill master. Join him, as he mans the grill for this barbecue blowout with all your besties this Sunday. This free and saucy picnic features live music and an aerial salute. Sharing a meal with veterans and active military is one way to show your appreciation for all that they've done.

Noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 10, at Topeekeegee Yugnee Park, in Hollywood.

Military Appreciation Hike

Hike in the name of the strong and the brave. Encounter wildlife and share stories of foreign wars as you make your through the hiking trails.

10 to 11 a.m. Sunday, November 10, at Hillsboro Pineland Natural Area, in Coconut Creek.

Veterans Concert and Sing-Along

Oh my gosh, you know you can sing. Why not show off your vocal skills at this merry-making concert and sing-along all in good fun. It's the least you can do.

3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 10, at Secret Woods Nature Center, in Dania Beach.

Celebrate Our Veterans Guided Nature Walk

Take a walk on a guided tour and learn a bit about South Florida's ecosystem. In addition, be sure to dress for the occasion in comfortable walking shoes, and any flag emblazoned shirts.

10 a.m. Monday, November 11, at Vista View Park in Davie.
