The City of Miami turned 112 this past week and to celebrate a party was held in its honor at the Jose Marti Building Saturday, June 26. The event benefited Camposition's 2008-2009 season, an organization founded by Octavio Campos in support of the local arts, and 801 Projects. Day 2 started out raining, then out came the sun and the humidity. Jarvis Cocker worked the big festival stage, No Age threw a dance party on a smaller stage and the Hold Steady "stayed positive" during its set. Along the way there were mud dancers and more than a few fashion Do's and Don'ts....
Fashion Week launched into full swing Thursday night at the Raleigh in Miami Beach. Diesel showcased its 2009 collection of swimwear to Miami's trendsetters and fashionistas, followed by the official kick-off party for the event.
Every year, Miami Heat player Alonzo Mourning puts on Zo's Summer Grove is raise money for local children's charities. This year, he recruited Dwyane Wade to help him breathe new life into the event. It seems like it worked.
