I’m not sure what kind of “post” Armor for Sleep occupies. Is it post-hardcore, post-emo, post-screamo, or post-emo/hardcore/screamo? Whatever. The truth is, since its 2003 debut, Dream to Make Believe, this quad from New Jersey has extended its reach far beyond simple categorization and has even been the featured subject of a DVD (A Comprehensive Guide to Touring). Incidentally, we can assume that their bones have been made based on fan support — which is of the ever-increasing type. So here they are, on the road again, with their next full-length effort, What to Do When You’re Dead, promised for late February on Equal Vision Records. Reflective, youthful, energetic; however you want to peg it, Armor for Sleep knows how to deliver.
Armor for Sleep performs with Boys Night Out, Chiodos, and Action Reaction at 7 p.m. Sunday, February 5, at the Culture Room, 3045 N. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $12. Call 954-564-1047.
