You might think a band named after a Herschell Gordon Lewis slasher flick would engage in some corny, blood-splattered stage show. But the Gore Gore Girls are too damn cute for that. Guitarist/singer Amy Surdu, bassist Melody Licious, and drummer Cathy Carrell drop the slash but keep the sass on their latest album, Up All Night. With a title like that, it’s no surprise to hear songs like “Shotgun Wedding” and “Hot Rod Breakdown” recall the influence of the Ronnettes, the Stooges, the Kinks, and the MC5. The Girls churn out three-chord, gal-gang goodness dolled up in white go-go boots and an attitude. Besides paying homage to the girl groups of the ’60s, bassist Melody Licious reveals the reason they prefer white vinyl uniforms: “It’s comfortable and perfect for the road. The beer, sweat, and dirt wipes right off!” The Gore Gore Girls open for the Cramps, 8 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at the Culture Room, 3045 N. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $15.
