The days when popular, famous restaurants kept their recipes secret are thankfully over. Case in point: The New Legal Sea Foods Cookbook! Now, we no longer have to trek to the Sawgrass Mills location of the Legal Sea Foods chain, scavenge for a parking spot, linger in line for a table, and wait some more for service, all to sample the signature New England-style clam chowder. OK, so it may take equally long to shop for the ingredients, clean the clams, peel the potatoes, and slow-cook the soup. And the result might be a burned mess in a hot kitchen. But we’ll risk it, if only for the Florida-perfect dessert — the mango-strawberry shortcake listed in the book’s pages.
