The problem with most cooking classes, as I see it, is that they take place in a kitchen — a hot, humid, sweaty place where you wind up smelling like whatever it is you learned how to make. Well, Oliver Saucy, chef-proprietor of the famed Cafe Maxx, has come up with a solution. He, Gianni Respinto (executive chef at Saucy’s other restaurant, East City Grill), and pastry chef Lauren Parrish will be offering cooking classes this summer on East City Grill’s air-conditioned porch (505 N. Ocean Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, 954-782-0606). Not only can you divine Saucy’s trade secrets, but you can do it with an ocean view. Classes run through September 16, cost $40 each, and begin at 11:30 a.m. As a bonus, if you can’t attend the classes in person, you can log on to digitalchefs.com and watch a live broadcast. Technology — ain’t it great?
