Contrary to popular belief, First Frank of Delray (210 NE Second St., Delray Beach, 561-330-0022) wasn’t built on the site of a former bank. But this modern version of a hot dog stand, which includes a dining area with boardroom tables and highchairs for miniature frankfurter fans, takes full advantage of its banklike name. Clients order off the “pass book” for “boardroom platters,” which range from the Chairman (beef frank, coleslaw, bankers’ taters, and soda for $6.50) to the Vice President (bratwurst, slaw, taters, and soda, also for $6.50). Some also order a side of “interest” — all-beef, no-bean chili, for example, for another $1.45 — and top everything off with a “liquid asset,” maybe a root beer float for $2.50 or a domestic beer for $3. It’s also in the diner’s best interest to note what’s not in First Frank’s lean, beef franks — fillers, phosphates, or MSG. You can bank on it.
