The proverbial day of rest is Sunday — but watch out: There’s a new neighborhood festival in town, and it’s kicking ass. Near Fort Lauderdale Beach, NE 33rd Street transforms into the Sunset Blue Block Party every Sunday from 6 to 10 p.m. Local hangouts the Dive Bar, the 33rd Street Wine Bar, Fishtales, and Blue Jean Blues sell their food streetside, and additional vendors set up posts along the block. Expect to see a wide range of merchandise (one dude sells soap). This Sunday, the main stage headliner is The Jeff Prine Group. Past performances have included Billy Vasquez, Troy Anderson and the Wonderful World Band, The Big City Blues Band and Magic City Band, and Charlie. After 10 p.m., the aforementioned joints continue the live music indoors. For those who like to party well into Monday, Fishtales music doesn’t stop until 1:45 a.m. Monday is the new Sunday, if Sunday, to you, means a day of rest. If you’re into martini Mondays, however, you’re still screwed. Admission is free. Visit destination33rd.com.

Sun., Sept. 13, 6 p.m.; Sun., Sept. 27, 6 p.m., 2009
