The Hollywood-based nonprofit Underdog Foundation was established to
raise money for the rescue and adoption community and — to quote
cofounder Adam Greenberg — to “bring awareness about what’s going
on in our backyard, support low-cost spay and neuter, educate well-
intentioned pet owners, and rescue special cases utilizing foster
care.” One of their most significant concerns is making “a
difference in South Florida’s horrific euthanasia statistics,” a
cause Yoga One, a Hollywood studio that cares about community
outreach, has agreed to support. Often, says Greenberg, animals are
put to sleep unnecessarily — they are healthy upon arrival at
shelters, “but because of the poor cleaning efforts and overwhelming
number of animals they intake with a very low budget, many do not stay
that way.” On Friday, Yoga One will host the Underdog Foundation’s
first fundraising event
to help raise awareness of these troubles: a
private class to beginners and yoga experts alike. The class is free
with a suggested minimum donation of $20, but any little bit counts,
as all proceeds will go directly to the Underdog Foundation. The class
will be followed by refreshments and the opportunity to learn more
about the Underdog Foundation and its mission. The class is from 7 to
9 p.m. Friday at Yoga One (613 N. 21st Ave., Hollywood.) You can
attend by RSVP’ing to underdogfoundation@gmail.com. Visit
underdogfoundation.org for more information. You can also take what
you learn here up with you to Yoga Day in West Palm Beach tomorrow.

Fri., Jan. 21, 7 p.m., 2011
