Finding cool local art, music, and film in South Florida is sort of like scrounging through vinyl at the local record store — the rare, soulful shit is definitely out there, provided you know which dusty bin to look in. Well, thanks to Auteur Explosion, a new monthly rocking the house tonight at 9 at Cinema Paradiso, that search just got infinitely easier. Explosion is a gathering of the hardest working purveyors of local arts, all assembled under one roof. Redawn Productions will premier its latest effort, Adeline, along with a host of other short films. Holding down the music portion will be Marc Soloman, Coffee House Gypsies, City of God, and Viva Le Vox. Artwise, Pamela and Blanca Fuentes and Katie Sottak will each exhibit some works. Even guest emcee, Robbio — he of the Grindhouse Deathmatch and Improv Export Co. at the now-defunct Mental Ward — will be in attendance, holding shit down alongside fellow hosts and filmmakers, Underlab Studios.

Head to Cinema Paradiso, located at 503 SE Sixth St. in Fort Lauderdale. Tix will run you just $5. Visit myspace.com/underlabstudios for more info.

Fri., March 27, 9 p.m., 2009
