Maybe it’s the white dress. Or maybe it’s the veil, fluttering delicately around the, ahem, maiden’s face. Whatever it is, blushing brides have garnered a reputation for innocence and sweetness, but anyone who’s ever had to deal directly with one of these precious princesses can tell you otherwise. Mess with the lady in white on her special day and you will be confronted by one bitchin’ bride. If you’re a visual learner, you’re in luck. Starting at 11 a.m. Sunday, “Battle of the Beach Brides” at the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel (1140 Seabreeze Blvd., Fort Lauderdale) will prove that these princesses are more Xena than Cinderella. The 50 determined divas will compete in a bouquet toss, diamond dig, wedding-cake eating, and obstacle-course competitions to win a free, 75-person wedding including a photo package, cake, flowers, lighting, and DJ. The battle culminates in a full bridal party tug of war (because bridesmaids can be scary too.) Visit battleofthebeachbrides.com, or call 954-524-5551.
