Though the calendar might say otherwise, true South Floridians know that summer is here. For the most part, the snowbirds have flocked home again, and we’ve run through the last waves of spring breakers. The bars have seating again, beach parking is more available, and it’s safe to go back to all your favorite haunts. The servers and bartenders might lament the dip in tips, but for the regulars, it’s heaven. And regulars are looking for regular events, ones they can rely on week to week for the kind of Florida diversion they moved here for, like some karaoke, for instance. Taco Beach Shack (334 Arizona St., Hollywood Beach) has karaoke every Wednesday from 6 to 10 p.m. And they have a 20-foot screen and a colorful host known as Mr. Ringleader and a Mexican menu filled with local seafood dishes. Add all that to a 32-ounce draft beer and you’ll not only forget about the annoying snowbirds (and the fact that you used to be one) but you’ll remember why you live here. Call 954-920-6523, or visit tacobeachshack.com.

Wednesdays, 6 p.m. Starts: June 1. Continues through Nov. 30, 2011
