The organic mango is so alluring that you can’t resist its drippy charms — until you migrate from the produce area to the check out line. That’s when reality sets in: That plump orb of juicy goodness is a fiscal luxury, especially when your hatchback is chugging on fumes. If only you knew the inside scoop on how to conquer Wholefoods on the cheap, then you could whip up masterpieces for pennies.
Well, Fort Lauderdale, your wish will be answered tonight during Ellen Briggs’ class “How to Shop for Healthy Meals on Your Shrinking Budget.” It’s another inventive class being offered by Wholefoods of Fort Lauderdale’s Lifestyle Center (2000 N. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale), a community-building piece of common space where cooking instruction, yoga sessions, and date nights collide. The course’s instructor, Ms. Briggs, is a family food expert — so she understands that for a hungry tyke, 20 minutes might as well be eternity. That’s why she’ll delve into a barrage of quick, effortless, inexpensive recipes — and who knows? Maybe she’ll even use mangos. This class is free and there will be samples! Class time is 7 to 8 p.m. Call 954-565-4138.
