Diplo has a lot to be grateful for this year. The Mad Decent label head’s career is in full swing. His Major Lazer side project with Switch recently released a new EP, Lazers Never Die, and a mixtape with La Roux.
Even frequent collaborator M.I.A.’s self-implosion this year didn’t affect him. “Tell Me Why,” his single contribution to her latest album, Maya, is generally considered the high point. It picks up, oddly enough, where “Paper Planes” left off.
The man has also visited Miami a lot lately. For WMC, obviously, as well as a Major Lazer show at Grand Central and a secret set at Bar. But this time there are no secrets or backup dancers, just a DJ gig at Grand Central on December 23. You’ll be indebted to the Philly native when he gives you the perfect pre-Noche Buena workout.
