Good pop music is addictive. So when the young group (seriously young folks, who might be playin’ at the club but they sure ain’t drinkin’ there) Manchester Orchestra decided to dedicate its collective post-high school years to perpetual touring (250 shows in 2007 alone), it didn’t have to resort to contamination of the water supplies. Nope. The five-piece’s so-catchy-you-can’t-help-but-dance anthems have threaded themselves into an international network of rabid fans. Slipping between disco-based dance beats and root-rock guitar shredding, the sounds created by Manchester Orchestra are as pensively grandiose as the band’s name suggests.
It’s music to blast when you’re playing hooky on a rainy day, tumbling rapidly into love, or just as quickly falling out of it, and wondering where everything went that was so beautiful, and so brief.
