Expected to debut just in time for anyone flying out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport for the holidays is Chef Allen 2 Go, a line of Latin and Caribbean-influenced sandwiches, salads, platters, and desserts from one of SoFla’s best-known and most esteemed chefs. The new 2 Go line is guided by the same principles as Susser’s highly regarded Aventura restaurant, Chef Allen’s.
That means local ingredients and flavors — “organic and sustainable
when possible, very healthful and eco-friendly.” It also means sammies
like grilled jerk chicken with mango ketchup and curried slaw and
chimichurri roast beef with piquillo peppers.
Prices haven’t
been set yet, but Susser says they’ll be “very reasonable,” likely
coming in well under $10. At first, Chef Allen 2 Go products will
be available only in kiosks in terminal number three, but later they’ll be sold in
all four airport terminals.
Can Miami and Palm Beach airports be far behind?
“We’ll see how it goes,” Susser says.
