In its initial state, Toro Y Moi’s first single from his second full-length, Underneath the Pine, boasts the nebulous title “Still Sound” and a hard-to-nail blend of vintage funk and something out of Phoenix’s energetic songbook. All in all, very promising remix material for one of our favorite Miami-based producer/artists and subject of a recent profile piece, Amtrac.

Here, the more-organic aspects of the original get sliced up and digitized for an entirely satisfying new accompaniment to Chaz Bundick’s laid-back soul turn. The dubstep way of life can certainly fix up everything if there’s not enough head-bobbing going on in your cubicle and the surrounding area. With the club-ready revamp of Kanye West and Jay-Z’s “H.A.M.” also kicking around, this could be the calendar year of Amtrac.
