Late Friday afternoon, TMZ reported that Cash Money Millionaire and global superstar extraordinaire, Lil’ Wayne, was hospitalized following another series of uncontrollable seizures.
However, unlike Wayne’s other brushes with neurological uncertainty, these tremors didn’t cease.
And by the time the story hit the web, Weezy F. Baby was in critical condition – an induced coma – and his Mama was flying to be by his side.
The situation was so dire, TMZ reported, that Birdman Junior had even received his last rites.
TMZ’s story was posted their story around 4:30. And, of course, word of the sudden demise of one of pop culture’s biggest musical celebrities of the past decade circulated like a blunt at any and all Cash Money functions, including (especially) baptisms.
But before we could even hit a full quarter of the 24 hour news cycle, CMYM affiliate, Mack Maine, had taken to Twitter to report that Wayne was not only alive and well but partaking in one his favorite activities: Watching ESPN.
Just now, someone or Weezy just tweeted from his account:
But is this just a cover up? Why hasn’t an outlet more substantial than Mack Maine’s Twitter reported on Wayne’s condition? Does TMZ know better than anyone that it’s all just to buy Cash Money more time to figure out how they’re going to break the news to the world that their flagship artist has passed away.
UPDATE: LA Weekly music editor Ben Westoff is on the scene, and apparently a member of Weezy’s “entourage” told the press the rumors were “lies” and that the rapper is “sitting up, drinking water.”
TMZ reports:
It’s still unclear what’s going on.
UPDATE: As of this morning, TMZ reports Lil Wayne is stable. But drugs were likely the cause of this hospital visit.
We hope you get better quickly Weezy, and stay off the juice.
UPDATE: As of March 18, Lil Wayne is still in intensive care, according to Pitchfork.
