NYC’s Magnetic Fields are charging up for LP8. Frontman Stephin Merritt has a thing for no-nonsense album titles, so expect Distortion to kick out plenty of feedback. Opening with a song called “Three-Way” doesn’t hurt either. Join in below, thanks to You Ain’t No Picasso. Distortion releases January 15 on Nonesuch Records.

The Magic Numbers never seemed to hit pay dirt on this side of the Atlantic, but the pair of brothers and sisters is worth a second look. The band recently stopped by the Daytrotter studios to show off its sophomore album, Those the Brokes, as well as a couple of new ones. Download it here. While you’re there, grab recent performances from Deerhunter and Okkervil River.
