Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are up to a dozen studio albums now, so it’s not a bad time to branch out from the Americana-pop-festival-rock thing. There have always been hints of the blues prior to this, but Mojo pushes right up to that standard. Curiosity likely brought out some of these buyers.
Further down this week’s picks, Wolf Parade still hasn’t quite regained the mojo of its revelatory first album for its third, Expo 86 (maybe time to get Isaac Brock back behind the boards?), but it’s not bad. More picks below.
