We’re big Surfer Blood fans over here at County Grind. And we do mean big. But you already know that.
The homegrown West Palm Beachers are currently touring the world as they prepare for their U.S. tour with five Florida stops, one being in Miami on September 18 with the Drums. But as much fun as it is to follow the boys on Twitter and watch as they ask for rides in London and experience their own personal “2012” in a bad travel lodge with no soap or phone and a smelly remote, sometimes we just need more.
We just got our hands on a new remix of “Twin Peaks,” and we thought
we’d share it with our trusty readers. It will be a part of the “Floating Vibes” single, out August 24. It’s been remixed by Allen
Blickle, drummer for Baroness.
He remixed “Swim” a few months ago, and now this. You might recognize
the name Baroness; the heavy-metal four-piece is actually opening for the Deftones at the Fillmore Miami Beach next Wednesday, but this mix is a far departure from the heavy guitar riffs and unclean screams the band’s known for.
We like to think it’s what Surfer Blood would sound like if they were
thrown into a bubble gum factory with the Brady Bunch. Yeah, it’s that pop-ish. The tambourines and the claps somehow work, though, and after a
few listens in, we’re starting to get hooked on the sped-up, Tim
Burton-esque Charlie and the Chocolate Factory version of “Twin Peaks.”
