Better than: Anything we could’ve expected.
The review:
So I’m a bit ashamed to admit this, but this reviewer has never been to the Buzz Bake Sale. You’d think it would’ve been a natural progression to go from yearly Warped Tours as a teen to partying with an older, more age-appropriate crowd, but the Bake Sale has always landed on the week of Art Basel Miami Beach. This time around, we traded in partying with art collectors for a daylong rock party — and it was surprisingly worth it.
We got there a little after 2:30 p.m., just in time to catch sets from Paper Tongues, Against Me!, and Anberlin. We got to see Justin Bieber look-alikes mixing in with middle-aged goth alts and punk kids with spiked-up Mohawks and having fun — it was what we picture heaven must look like.
See below for our video diary of performances from some of the real standouts of the day, as well as some of the more popular songs from Mighty Mighty Bosstones’ incredible set.
Anberlin started its set with a bang — and some crowd surfers on killer whales.
