The only place to see New York neo-disco act Hercules and Love Affair’s new video is the online pages of a newspaper. But just before we get to that, let’s briefly extol the virtues of “My House,” a retro clip that reminds us that puffy clothing is great for movement and expands the magnetism of whatever loud fabric that went into the garment. Set in a lounge far cooler than anything on The Grind, it’s the sort of revisionist history lesson that helps us forget far more regrettable moments from our dancing youth. Even the commercial break in the middle trumpeting a multi-faceted laundromat and a “delicioso” fried chicken joint is pure nostalgia.

“My House,” featured on the forthcoming Blue Songs album out January 31 via Moshi Moshi, has the high-pitched shockwaves running through it like any DFA production should, and possibly a bit of Soul II Soul mixed with its Italo disco vibe. “Put my house in order” as an idea is complex, and tantalizing. Not a bad request to make of anyone seeking a place in your life. “See you next week.”

Watch “My House” at The Guardian.
