​In our Moving Units column, Mike Ramirez at Fort Lauderdale’s Radio-Active Records  graciously keeps us up-to-date and comments on the current releases flying out of his store each week.

Two was the magic number last week, and things have only changed moderately since then with Norwegian shoegaze specialists Serena Maneesh and the cutesy alt-folk combo featuring M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel, She & Him, still getting mad scans. Ramirez says Radio-Active primarily moved secondhand records, along with some new Southern Lord releases (Black Breath’s Heavy Breathing,  as well as Goatsnake’s Flower of Disease reissue and Lair of the Minatour’s Evil Power perhaps?).

2. She & Him – Volume

3. Omar Khorshid – Guitar El Chark (Guitar of the

Orient) (Sublime Frequencies) “The new Omar Khorshid LP on Sublime

Frequencies is a winner. Don’t sleep on this folks; only 1000 copies on

vinyl.”

4. Dum Dum Girls – I Will Be (Sub Pop) “I expected

more sales on the Dum Dum Girls.”

5. Kid606 – Songs About Fucking

Steve Albini (Important) “Kid 606 is a contender for album title of

the year.”

Which albums will we be talking about next week?
“Jonsi’s LP Go (XL)

hits this Tuesday and will appease any fan of Sigur Ros or whale sounds

at 3 a.m. Harlem releases its Matador debut, “Hippies”, and

Sharon Jones is back for round four with I Learned the Hard Way (Daptone). Madlib’s Medicine Show No. 3: Beat Konducta in Africa (Stones Throw) on triple deluxe vinyl for all the

collectors. David Byrne collaborating with Fatboy

Slim on Here Lies Love (Todomundo/Nonesuch)? Hmmm.”

Crossfade’s two cents:
We hoped that Harlem’s video for “Gay Human Bones,” which is the name of a basketball team in the song, would have been more similar to Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” clip, but still co-signing for this great, scrappy Austin indie rock band. Watch and listen below.
