See if you can find a silver lining for South Florida in these two reports in major national news magazines about Palm Beach. Newsweek’s Daniel Gross writes about how Bernard Madoff fleeced Palm Beach high society and Time declares the county to be The New Capital of Florida Corruption.

It means that the Old Capital of Florida Corruption, Broward County, gets a breather. At least until old Alex Acosta gets around to assigning federal prosecutors to take a closer look at the pay-to-play culture that’s nearly identical in these parts. But until then, feel free to call this a “golden age” of Broward politics. Ignorance may not be bliss, but it’s about the closest we’ll get to it.
