You would think that the first native of Broward County ever elected appointed to the U.S. Senate would toss a few bones to the home team. But Sen. George LeMieux’s newly announced staff is conspicuously lacking in locals.
Ironically, this might be the only good thing about appointing a U.S. Senator, rather than electing one. During a long campaign, the candidate gathers an enormous entourage, many of whom expect to be rewarded with a job after all their hard work. Often, a job they’re not qualified for.
LeMieux’s staff, by contrast, appears to be highly qualified. That is, they have experience. It’s just a shame that LeMieux himself is so lacking in qualifications and experience.
