Jewel thieves tend to over-think the heist, often with disastrous results — as you might remember from Before the Devil Knows Your Dead.
A thief who hit Galleria Mall yesterday did not make this mistake. He simply walked into Zales and… let’s let the Fort Lauderdale Police Department take it from there:
The suspect asked the store representative to look at a two carat diamond ring. As the salesperson was retrieving the ring from the jewelry case, the suspect sat down in a chair. Upon being handed the diamond, the suspect took off running in an unknown direction. The ring is valued at approximately $20,000.00.
The suspect has been described as a black male, 22-26 years of age, and
approximately 5’11” to 6’1″. The suspect was last seen wearing a polo
shirt.Anyone with information regarding this incident or who may
have witnessed the incident is encouraged to contact Detective Richard
