If you’re on the freeway in South Broward, stop reading this blog and watch the road!
If you’re still reading, then at least be on the lookout for a 1991 Toyota Camry, a stolen car which appears to be involved in a police chase with the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
This is a developing news story. We hope to learn soon why on earth someone would steal a 1991 Toyota Camry. (And maybe also learn where and how that suspect was apprehended.)
Shouldn’t take long. I’m not sure a 19-year-old Camry can top 80 mph.
UPDATE: Three suspects bailed out of the vehicle and have been caught. More after the jump.
According to BSO, a Coral Springs police officer spotted a suspicious vehicle in the northwest section of the city. He chased the Camry south to Tamarac, where BSO took over. Those deputies managed to end the chase just over the border into Miami-Dade, near Lejune Rd.and NW 119 Street in Hialeah.
As to the reasons the thieves targeted an old Toyota, here’s a guess: They’re selling to a chop shop, since those older model Toyotas have valuable parts.
