OK, so an all-Jewish film festival might seem a tad daunting for your gentile sensibilities. This, and the inevitable questions that follow, are expected. Queries like: “Does every Jewish flick have an obligatory ‘priest and rabbi’ one-liner and a meshugana overprotective mother?” Short answer: negative. Take the Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival, for example – they’ve slated 26 films to address a meatier existential conundrum: Jewish identity.

Three such meditative yarns screen today at Regal Delray 18 (1660 South Federal Hwy., Delray Beach). In the soul-searcher Just An Ordinary Jew, a journalist refuses to lecture a class about his Jewish upbringing in postwar Germany. The rollicking doc, The Cemetery Club, chronicles a sorority of elderly Holocaust survivors clambaking on politics and poetry. Finally, My Father, My Lord pits a rabbi against his own faith after a family trip snowballs into disaster. JOJ plays at 1:15 p.m., CC at 3:15 p.m. and MFML at 7:15 p.m. Tickets run $7 to $10. Call 561-272-0510, or visit www.palmbeachjewishfilm.org.
