The venue of choice in which to party these days is the warehouse.
Because, sure, bars can add features like an art show, and we’ll dig
it, but at a warehouse — Swarm Warehouse, to be exact — it’s a
night at the indie circus. Swarm Warehouse happens to be owned by
Squeegee Science, and we love it when our local screen-printing
darlings go to the local bars: We get to pick out a design, drink, and
leave with a really cool printed T-shirt, all eco-friendly; it’s much
cheaper than the outrageous price of a band T-shirt. But what’s
better? When they’re the ones hosting the party! Inside these walls
(which are free to enter), there will be cheap drinks, tattooing by
Magic City Tattoo (besides the Monterey Club, which is attached to a
tattoo shop, find us a bar that offers this), an Album Cover Art Show
(bars don’t have the gallery wall space like warehouses do, and
tonight the walls will be decked in redesigned existing or made-up
album covers), and a skateboarding demonstration by Amaxon Skateboards
(sure, the now-defunct Automatic Slims had a skateboard ramp on
Wednesdays, but that was just weird watching them skateboard squished
in the corner). Live music will be performed by Ceschi, the Shakers,
and Everymen, and when the live bands are on hiatus, the backdrop will
be filled with jams provided by DJs Sensitive Side and Chair Weiner.
So the musical entertainment alone covers punk, hip-hop, funk, banjos,
washboards, and a fire show, among so much else. Swarm 4 is from 9
p.m. to 2 a.m. at Swarm Warehouse (500 SW 21st Terrace, Fort
Lauderdale). For any questions you want answered, email info@blacklocustsociety.com
, and/or like their Facebook page, Black Locust Society.

Sat., Nov. 13, 9 p.m., 2010
