From its humble beginnings to the futuristic space-age innovations that will be upon us sooner than we’d like to think, aviation has continuously managed to capture the imagination and revel in the lore of its own creation myth. The Art of Aircraft is a special collection of Steven Greenwald Design Inc.’s aviation-inspired artwork. Artist Frank Martin’s work consists of abstract collages depicting the metal birds, from vintage propellers to military and seafaring behemoths. Some of his works, loaned from the private gallery, will be displayed at the grand opening of the Museum of Discovery and Science’s (MODS) newly renovated To Fly aviation exhibit. Spruced up this past fall, the exhibit now features a state-of-the-art 7-D capsule theater that uses 3-D aviation film, moving seats, and multisensory effects. This exhibit, with its face-lift and across-the-disciplines outlook, is sure to continue our fascination with the skies.
The Art of Aircraft Frank Martin Collection at MODS To Fly Exhibit is included with regular museum admission: adults $14, seniors $13, and children 2 to 12 $12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. MODS is located at 401 SW Second St. in Fort Lauderdale.
