Rocket Boots: You’ve wanted them since you were a kid, if only some brilliant inventor would conquer the technical challenges of defying gravity in a safe, fun, easy to use way — then you could finally soar like the superhero you are. For all you know, that’s exactly what the members of the Inventors Society of South Florida are working on right now! While they haven’t specifically mentioned a patent on cool flying shoes in any form, the group’s members have created new-fangled power tools, anti-snoring devices, a handy invention called a Tongue Tong that stops its owner from having dragon breath, and even a cool climate control device to help regulate your dwelling’s interior temperature.
These guys have been busy imagineering new contraptions for 25 years; they’re celebrating that milestone on Saturday at the Main Broward County Library (100 S. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale) with a free expo called “Latest Inventions Under the Moon.” You can check out all of their cool gadgets, an actual moon rock (on loan from NASA) and catch a lecture on how to secure patent information, at 3 p.m. True, it isn’t rocket boots, but it’s still pretty darn cool. Visit www.inventorssociety.net for more information on both the organization and the event.
