A comic-book extravaganza of gigantic proportions, Marvel Universe Live swings through South Florida this week in the midst of its 85-city jaunt across the U.S. Think of it as Comic-Con on steroids, as everyone’s favorite superheroes — including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Wolverine, Thor, and even the Hulk — all partake in combating evil in this over-the-top, live-action, special-effects-laden spectacle. There will be fulminating pyrotechnics, stunning aerial acrobatics, martial arts stunts, and spectacular motorcycle tricks. Disney on Ice this testosterone-fueled show definitely is not. The central plot line revolves around Loki, Thor’s villainous brother, who has found a way to harvest the mutant energy of X-Men Wolverine, Storm, and Cyclops. It falls on Iron Man, with the help of his Avenger friends, to rid the world of Loki and save the universe. Comic-book fans of all ages will eat all this Superhero high drama right up.
Catch Marvel Universe Live on its final day this Sunday, with two shows, one at 3 p.m. and the other at 7, at the BB&T Center, located at 1 Panther Parkway in Sunrise. Tickets cost $20 to $126. Visit thebbtcenter.com, or call 954-835-7000.
