Golf is a real bitch. It’s expensive, exclusive, and (doh, what’s another adjective starting with ex?) exacting. Disc golf, on the other hand, is just one word: extreme. Well, it’s also easy, accessible, and very cheap. As far as rules go they’re simple: start at the tee-off spot and toss your disc (they look like fat, compact Frisbees) in the least number of throws into a chain-linked basket. You don’t even need to join an expensive club. All you have to do to play is pick up a couple of throwing discs and head down to Easterlin Park (1000 NW 38 St., Oakland Park). The deeply wooded park sports a well-maintained, 18-hole disc golf course that’s short enough for amateurs and still challenging enough to help you hone that controlled slice into a powerful weapon. There’s also a pretty fanatical disc golf following that congregates at the park on Sundays, so the uninitiated will find plenty of old pros nearby to help them work on their game. Park admission is just one buck on weekends. Call 954-938-0610.
