Ferrets are the perpetual children of the animal world – give one an old cereal box and an excised pant leg to crawl through, and she’ll imagine it into a beautiful castle with long hallways fit for a regal procession. There, Queen Snickers will reign over her all her miniature kingdom, burrowing her furry, slender body into the hearts of her people: namely you!
Yep, ferrets don’t expect too much. They just want a good home full of interesting things to crawl through and people who will love them unconditionally. If you’re up for that task, you’ll definitely want to check out the Second Annual Ferret Fun Day sponsored by the Broward Ferret Rescue. Starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at Petco (1009 E. Commercial Blvd., Oakland Park), would-be ferret owners and enthusiasts can take a peek at the dozens of cute furries up for adoption, plus get tips on ferret-proofing and care. You can also bring your own little Queen or King to romp in BFR’s playpen alongside their tubular brethren, take part in contests (fastest ferret, best kisser), and enter raffles for care baskets filled with stuff the little ones love. And it’s free! Visit www.browardferretrescue.org.
