It seems there are only two types of people who go to art exhibits. One: friends and family of the artist who are supporting their loved one, but would rather be elsewhere. And Two: impossibly pretentious pseudo-scholars who believe life only exists within a gallery’s walls. Has art somehow become intimidating to “regular folk?”
The newest exhibit at Dorsch Gallery has potential to break through the art/common man barrier. “It’s Okay to Cross Now” gives a quirky, light-hearted take on modern art. Framed pencil drawings of mix tapes, colorful line sketches of jokes waiting for punchlines, and tangled up, suspended furniture are just a few of the oddities awaiting your perusal now, and through June 7th.
