Gas prices are sky-high, political crap is ruling the airwaves, and the unemployment rate is to the point where PhD’s are applying for jobs at Mickey D’s. While your first instinct may be to reach for the nearest bottle of liquor, you probably can’t afford that — so drown your sorrows in an evening of music at the Wolfsonian (1001 Washington Ave., Miami). Tonight at 7, singer, songwriter, and music historian Rod MacDonald will lead you and your fellow commiserates in a collection of tunes about protest and freedom in an evening called Free to Sing Out Loud.

The legendary design museum located in the heart of SoBe will be full of the sounds of music, but not the hip-hop and electronica that will fill the streets once the clock strikes midnight. Here are the soundtrack to years of American struggle and the melodies which helped people from the past fight through social injustice, civil rights violations, and everything else that “the man” throws on our backs. The vocal liberation is free. Call 305-531-1001 or visit www.wolfsonian.org.
