Getting to know new people in a city can be a trying endeavor. There are people from all over the place who are into all sorts of weird things, and everyone is busy running around from place to place or hanging out with friends they already know. For dog lovers, you always have the dog park, but after getting covered in mud and some other dog’s drool, you’re usually a complete mess by the time you head home — and dog parks don’t serve drinks. Leave the dirty in your martini this Friday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. while hanging with Fido and other dog-loving peeps at Riverwalk’s Mutts and Martinis.
Being held on the south side of the New River, in front of the historic Downtowner Saloon, the event will bring canine enthusiasts from across South Florida together to raise funds for Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale. The cost to attend is $25 at the door, $20 in advance — dogs get free entrance with their human companion — which includes two drinks and tons of appetizers. The event features live music, a silent auction, a doggy fashion show, and plenty of other dogcentric activities. The Historic Downtowner is located at 10 S. New River Drive E. in Fort Lauderdale.
