Tales of workplace woes are, perhaps, a common complaint in today’s society. Salary raises are a thing of the past, and the struggle of gender pay equality persists. In a timely fashion, the Tony Award-winning musical The Pajama Game comes to Tamarac Theatre of Performing Arts, opening Saturday. The comedy-drama, based on Richard Bissell’s book 7 1/2 Cents, concerns the lives of the workers in Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory. They go on strike, argue for wage raises, and, as a dramatic effect, certain workers discover that romance at work is ultimately a headache. Where there is conflict, comic relief soothes their souls.
