As the summer heat and afternoon thunderboomers start to roll in, festival season begins to roll out. The fests, fairs, and walks with which we had filled our free time all through the cooler months of autumn, winter, and spring roll up their tents, pack up their wares, and retreat to cooler climes. But all is not lost for the hardy, sun-burnt, full-time Floridians. There are still a few festivals to be found under the hot summer sun; in fact, the West Palm Beach Summer Thyme Greenmarket is just getting started.
Every Wednesday until September 19 (except July 4) from 5 to 8 p.m., you can peruse the produce as the sun loosens its grip on the day. Set in the Waterfront Commons, the greenmarket will treat you to cooling ocean breezes and an undeniably great view of the Intracoastal — so much better than the produce section at your local Publix. Plus, all of the produce here will be locally grown.
Waterfront & City Commons is located at 101 S. Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach. The market is free, but parking in the Banyan Street Garage will cost $1 for the first two hours and $1 for each additional hour. Call 561-822-1515, or visit wpb.org/greenmarket.
Wednesdays, 5-8 p.m. Starts: May 23. Continues through Sept. 19, 2012
