As temperatures drop in South Florida, there is certainly no lack of discussions on heat — both the infrequently used HVAC system and the basketball team. Come game day, an abundance of local sports fans crowds into the many watering holes around South Florida, so pull up a barstool at Duffy’s Sports Grill — complete with 13 big screens in the bar area — or opt for a more comfortable seat in a booth or high-top table and glue your eyes to the 20 TVs in the dining room. The menu offers something for every appetite — from standard appetizers to delectable specialties such as churrasco steak with chimichurri and baby back ribs. This dimly lit bar is dominated by sports memorabilia, and in the midst of onscreen sports commentators and loud-speaking patrons, there will likely be crazed sports enthusiasts yelling at the TVs. Stop in on Monday to catch the Heat as it takes on the Mavericks and enjoy the two-for-one happy-hour specials all night long and $5 34-ounce mugs of Heineken in December. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Duffy’s Sports Grill, 1804 Harbor Shops Road, Fort Lauderdale. No cover. Call 954-713-6363, or visit duffysmvp.com.

Mon., Dec. 20, 7:30 p.m., 2010
