Although it feels nice that we have progressed technologically, the nostalgia of the good old days when you had to rewind VHS tapes and record onto cassette tapes still lingers for some of us. An open house for a juried artwork exhibition, by the Council of Palm Beach County and the Resource Depot, using VHS tapes and other recycled materials is underway on Friday. Using VHS and cassette tapes, each artist was encouraged to repurpose outdated technology for the exhibition, which is serendipitously titled “Re-Purposed/Re-Seen” and will be showcased until October 18. The recycle-themed juried show asked for one submission from each artist residing in Palm Beach County, and there will be awards for Best of Show offered.
The open house will be held at the council’s headquarters in downtown Lake Worth, which is located at 601 Lake Ave. Email the council’s manager of artist services, Nichole Hickey, at nhickey@palmbeachculture.com.

Thu., Aug. 28, 5:30-7:30 p.m.; Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: Aug. 28. Continues through Oct. 18, 2014
