It’s Girl Scout Cookie time. They’re everywhere: on street corners, at tables outside grocery stores, and lurking just outside the doors of your gym. With their cute faces and deliciously evil snacks, who can resist them?! It’s for a good cause, right? Yes. But good cause calories will make your butt just as big as empty beer calories. If only you could do good things for the future women of South Florida without going up a pant size. No worries. The Junior League is here to provide all the calorie burning philanthropy you could hope for. The 11th Annual Riverwalk Run starts at 7 a.m. Sunday in Huizenga Plaza in downtown Fort Lauderdale. While you jog along the New River and through Rio Vista, you can think of all the cellulite that’s not being formed by that box of Thin Mints you ate alone in the car and about all the good causes you’re helping. This year’s Junior League projects include The FLITE Center to help youth aging out of the foster, Healthfully Ever After nutrition education for second graders, and Kids in the Kitchen cooking classes. Choose from the 5 mile run, 5K run, or 5K fitness walk. Registration is $25 online, $30 on paper, or $40 at the gate. For more information or to register, visit juniorleagueftl.org, or call 954-462-1350.
