Until the Miami Malt Liquor Expo and 8-Bit Nintendo Tournament gets up and running, one of our favorite local booze fests (after New Times‘ Beer Fest, of course) is still the Miami International Wine Fair, now in its eighth year at the Miami Beach Convention Center (1901 Convention Center Dr., Miami Beach).
Rest your pinkies, people, because this Saturday between 4 and 7 p.m. you’ll have 1,500 different types of wine from 20 different countries to sample, swirl, spit, and savor. Don’t know crap about wine? At 3:30, check out “You be the Judge,” a seminar that teaches you how to tell the difference between shiraz and syrah and finish and mouthfeel. By that time however, you might have a belly full of tannin and a head that’s floating from too much bouquet.
Tickets cost $75, or for $120, you can attend the VIP grand tasting an hour earlier at 3 p.m. Call 866-877-WINE or visit miamiwinefair.com.
