The 2014 Michelob Ultra Half-Marathon is the inaugural race for the Florida Storm Marathon Series. With five events in total running through next March and taking place in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Sarasota, Miami Beach, and the Palm Beaches, there’s a certain regional pride added to the satisfaction of simply participating and helping out some charities. With the weather slowly getting considerably nicer for outdoor activities, this half-marathon, at 13.1 miles, could be the one that will finally get you off the couch and into an active lifestyle. However, do not be fooled. Michelob Ultra is the largest sponsor of the race, but none of the 11 hydration stations along the course will feature its beer. These stations will stick to water and sports drinks.
There will be a food tent for all participants at the finish line, and Pollo Tropical is one of the sponsors, if that tickles your fancy. The fee is $115 the week of and until race day. Similarly, the two-person relay is $140 until race day. The “Life Time” 5K run has a fee of $45. The half-marathon has a number of rules and guidelines concerning safety and race-day activities along with information on hotels and participating sponsors and attractions on its website. You can enjoy an ice-cold Michelob after the race. Register online by visiting 131marathon.com.
