Maybe it was the family heirloom that only drove in reverse, or the lemon that caught fire the day it was bought; whichever it was, you learned a valuable lesson: as much as you will them, automobiles have a mind of their own. Why are their minds used for evil instead of good? It wasn’t always so. Just take the childhood classic Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, where the four-wheeled star of the show used its power for sprouting wings in traffic jams and alerting the family when the bad guys approached. Regain faith in the automotive industry when Chitty Chitty Bang Bang pulls into Broward Center for the Performing Arts Au Rene Theater (201 SW Fifth Avenue, Fort Lauderdale) for a series of performances. Showtime is Friday at 8 p.m. Tickets cost between $16-65. Call 954-462-0222, or visit browardcenter.org.

Fridays-Sundays, 8 p.m. Starts: Nov. 21. Continues through Nov. 30, 2008
